Q:            How is competitive intelligence information obtained?

A:            The NetPeriscope ASP service offering is based upon a sophisticated content recognition engine (CRE) that tokenizes a web page for competitive intelligence information. Utilizing unobtrusive stealth technology, NetPeriscope engages web agents that intelligently analyze a web site and then parse the appropriate, publicly available web pages into a hierarchy of tokens. From these tokens, the NetPeriscope agents extract the appropriate competitive intelligence information and organize the presentation of this knowledge into raw data or comprehensive reports that can be mined through customized queries.

Q:            What do I need in order to use NetPeriscope?

A:            Because NetPeriscope is completely ASP-based, all you need is a computer with Internet access (IE4 or above). The system is hosted from our headquarters in Thornhill, Ontario.  As a subscriber, you specify the sites you want scanned, the price, product and/or other information you want extracted, and the frequency of reports you require. NetPeriscope executes the scans on your schedule, retrieves the desired data, and downloads the information to you.

Q:            How is security and privacy enforced at NetPeriscope?
A:            NetPeriscope’s ASP service is hosted at OnX Enterprise Solutions’ high security hosting facility. OnX Enterprise Solutions employs in-house specialists with experience in hardening web servers, configuring firewalls, and developing customized security procedures and policies. NetPeriscope has solicited the services of dedicated OnX Enterprise Solutions resources to monitor the ASP service on a 24x7 basis through a centralized computer system, which includes control panel monitors, smoke detectors, temperature sensors, UPS and battery backup, diesel generators, and a redundant air conditioning system.
